TCS Satin
Micro-embossed Terne-Coated
Stainless Steel
With new TCS Satin from Follansbee The Finish Is Just The Beginning.™ because TCS Satin’s soft flat gray patina finish – similar to that of zinc plate - is beautiful from the day it’s installed for generations to come. By most estimates, a new TCS Satin roof can easily last fifty, eighty, even a hundred years and beyond with little if any maintenance required.
TCS Satin achieves its aesthetic – a low-sheen, satin-like surface - through a micro-embossing process that diffuses light across the surface of the material. The look is remarkably similar to that of zinc plate, though TCS Satin is lighter and provides superior forming capability and corrosion-resistance.
Competitively priced TCS Satin begins as type-304 stainless steel, which is carefully cleaned, then plated with Follansbee’s proprietary ZT alloy. Finally, the material is micro-embossed under high pressure. This micro-embossing process has no negative impact upon the product’s corrosion-resistance performance.
In fact, TCS Satin has no known point of failure. Salt spray testing per ASTM B117, which usually reveals failures in corrosion protection in just a few hours of continuous exposure has never caused a failure in TCS Satin (or
any other Follansbee product). Even after more than 22,000 hours of continuous exposure to salt spray, TCS Satin refused to fail.
For this reason, TCS Satin is especially suitable for highly corrosive environments such as coastal regions.
Available in lighter gauges and wider widths that alternative exotic metals, TCS Satin has virtually no limitations for applications, and can be installed on industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential structures. Installation is also simplified because no back coat is required.
