Project:

Woods Hole Residence

Location: Woods Hole, Massachusetts
Facility Owner:
Catherine Cramer
Facility End Use: Private Residence
Completion Date: Spring 2004
Follansbee Product: TCS II®

The Cramer residence in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, itself a work of art, provides a home for the homeowners' art collection and space for concert performances. Located just one block from the Atlantic Ocean, it's quite a departure from traditional New England Architecture. The home's curved roof panels and ebb-and-flow design mimic the topography of land and sea.

Unlike most homes nestled among the ancient oaks of the coastline, the Cramer residence features contemporary design and materials. Those include Follansbee TCS II employed as standing seam roof panels, half-round gutters and leaders.

TCS II weathers the rain, snow and salty blasts of any marine environment. To date, TCS II has surpassed 15,000 hours of ASTM salt-spray testing with no signs of red rust*, proving its exceptional corrosion resistance.

Follansbee TCS II, an architectural stainless steel coated with Follansbee's patented ZT® (zinc/tin) alloy, weathers naturally to an attractive gray patina and does not require painting. As proven by Follansbee's extensive metallurgic testing, TCS II withstands the severe corrosive conditions of industrial, urban and salt-water environments. The highly versatile TCS II can be tailored to a variety of design forms — from the traditional standing seam roof to vertical walls, barrel applications, shingles, and customized sections in flat or spherical shapes. TCS II is solderable and virtually maintenance-free.

Architect: Thomas H. Hiksdal, AIA (Sandwich, Massachusetts)
Installer: General Construction (Colliers, West Virginia)
