Follansbee Product: TCS II®
German immigrants traveled to western Pennsylvania in the late 1700s on a mission to build homes and churches that would last. Zion Lutheran Church, founded in 1800, was one of the first churches they built. Today, the house of worship remains one of the oldest Lutheran churches in the western Pennsylvania area.
In 2002, the church required a new roofing material as a replacement for its antiquated slate roof. The durability, longevity and minimal maintenance requirements that Follansbee TCS II offers made it a natural choice as a modern roofing alternative. The material’s soft, satin gray color lends to the structure’s classic design, further contributing to the traditional visual appeal of the religious facility.
As an architectural stainless steel coated with Follansbee's patented ZT® (zinc/tin) alloy, Follansbee TCS II weathers naturally to an attractive gray patina and does not require painting. As proven by Follansbee's extensive metallurgic testing, TCS II withstands the severe corrosive conditions of industrial, coastal and salt-water environments. The highly versatile TCS II can be tailored to a variety of design forms — from the traditional standing seam roof to vertical walls, barrel applications, shingles and customized sections in flat or spherical shapes. TCS II is solderable and virtually maintenance-free. To date, Follansbee TCS II has surpassed 26,000 hours of ASTM salt spray testing with no signs of red rust.
